Bernstein: #EqualEverywhere is the Future

AllianceBernstein is dedicated to building platforms for women investors and business leaders to thrive. They’re also building a workplace that is diverse and inclusive, showing the world the role companies can play to ensure women are equal at work and everywhere else.

In honor of the #EqualEverywhere campaign, they asked their colleagues “What does #EqualEverywhere mean to you?” Here are some of their replies:

“In business, #EqualEverywhere is much more than a feel-good concept. It’s about closing the gap between ideas and engagement.

On a personal note, while I’m a proud #girldad, I know it’s my responsibility to teach my son what it means to respect women as true equals.”

David Barnard, Head—Bernstein

“With women earning 79 cents for every dollar earned by men, we’ve got a long way to go. If we don’t speak up — and do so loudly (and perhaps uncomfortably) — what will spur change? Half the battle is raising awareness.”

Beata Kirr, Co-Head of Private Client Investment Strategy—Bernstein

“I grew up in a household led by a single mother where traditional roles did not have a place. My mother was the first student-athlete to receive a full scholarship for a NCAA Division I women’s basketball program. The deep respect, gratitude and love I feel for my mother and younger sisters motivates me.”

Jordan L. Forney, Client Advisor—Bernstein

“We need the best people to continue to push us forward; that means we need to recruit, train, mentor and promote the women who represent 50% of the best talent out there.”

Michelle Dunstan, Global Head—Responsible Investing; Portfolio Manager—Global ESG Improvers Strategy

“I am a first-generation American and the daughter who comes from a long line of hard-working women. My grandmother worked as a maid when she arrived in the U.S. My mother, through sheer determination, went to college and became a teacher. I was raised by parents who taught me to believe that I could succeed and go as far as my ambition took me. I have taken this belief into the workplace.”

Dianne Lob, Head of Global Business Development—AllianceBernstein

“To me, it’s not a question of whether women can do the job—it’s whether they can find the confidence to try, and so we must help each other get there.”

Kate Chinn, Head of Community Relations—AllianceBernstein

“#EqualEverywhere is the future, it makes us all better. By developing an equal platform, we can enhance society and ensure that talented individuals reach their true potential. It takes an intentional effort by every person to make this happen.”
